About Us
CHAMPIONING BRITISH CHEESE & CHARCUTERIE MAKERS
Since humble beginnings in 2015, we have moved from an organic wine night, to travelling to London’s Borough Market on a pop-up, to acquiring premises in the village where we grew up to bring our dream home in 2017 as one of the country’s most ambitious food outlets
Since opening Blacks Corner in September 2017 after an extensive self-build property restoration, we are linking with an ever-expanding list of British farmhouse cheese & British charcuterie producers to create our menu of flavour pairings, celebrating this new food tradition.
We have achieved National Runner Up in the Northern Design Awards 2017 to accompany three Diners Choice Awards, and entry into the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2018, "Surface Interiors International" category.
2018 saw the launch of our Hampers, and our Apple Cart which has been seen at events from Borough Market's British Charcuterie Awards, to weddings, to shows and especially to our local villages Party in the Park & Scarecrow festivals.
In 2019 we opened the Blacks Corner Deli & Bakehouse just a few street away at 1A St John's Terrace in East Boldon and were very humbled to support our community during the 2020 lockdowns from this location.
2020 we were selected as the custodians for the Seaburn Tram Shelter, a Grade II listed Tram Shelter on Seaburn Sea Front to restore and furbish into Blacks Corner "By The Sea" in partnership with Sunderland City Council and the Coastal Communities Grant.
